Cancellation & Rescheduling
Last updated September 2026
Plans change, and we would far rather hear from you than sit outside an empty driveway. Tell us as early as you can and there is usually nothing to pay.
More than 2 hours before your appointment
No fee
Cancel or reschedule any appointment, any service, for free. Rescheduling at this notice never costs anything, however many times. One call or text is all it takes, and you do not owe us a reason.
Within 2 hours, or nobody there when we arrive
50%
We keep 50% of what you paid and refund the rest. That time was held for you and cannot be given to anyone else at that notice, and on the appointments arranged in advance it is worse than an empty hour: a facility clearance, an approved visiting window, an evening slot kept open. The figure is fixed when you pay, so it is on your receipt before any of this comes up.
More than 15 minutes late
10%
Every appointment has a 15 minute grace period, and nothing is added inside it. Past that we will still do the work wherever we can, but a 10% late fee may apply, because the time belonged to the next person as well. We agree it with you at the door before starting, never as a surprise afterwards. Call or text if you are running behind and we will tell you honestly whether it still fits.
Government and agency fees, once a filing is made
Not refundable
Apostille and document retrieval involve money paid to a state office or an agency on your behalf. Once it is spent it is gone, whether or not the office issues what you asked for. If a document is rejected, call us: what we return beyond those fees is a conversation, not a formula.
Why there is a fee at all
When you book, the notary commits a travel window to you and turns down other work in it. Inside the last 2 hours, that time cannot be given to anyone else.
That is the whole reason. The fee is not a penalty and we do not enjoy charging it. If something genuinely went wrong (a medical emergency, a death in the family, a facility that turned us both away), say so. We would rather waive a fee than argue about one.
How to cancel or reschedule
Call or text (717) 461-2212. A text is fine and it is the fastest way to reach the notary while she is on the road. Please do not rely on email inside the 2-hour window. It may not be seen in time.
Have your reference number to hand if you have one: the WH- number from your confirmation. It is not required; your name and the appointment time are enough.
Rescheduling is not cancelling
Moving an appointment to another time is free whenever we can find a slot that works, including inside the 2-hour window for a standard appointment. We would always rather move you than lose you.
If we have to cancel
Weather, a vehicle, an emergency: it happens, and when it is our end you pay nothing. We will tell you as soon as we know and offer you the first time that suits you.
If a notarial act cannot be performed once we arrive (an expired ID, an incomplete document, a signer who is not able to proceed), that is not a cancellation. We made the journey, so the travel on your quote stands, and we refund the notarial fee for any act that did not happen. Call us and we will work out what is fair from there. See our terms of service for what the law requires us to refuse.
Work already under way
Apostille, document retrieval, and translation are not appointments and this policy does not cover them. Once a filing has been submitted or an order placed on your behalf, the government, agency, or partner fees already committed cannot be refunded. Anything not yet spent is returned to you.
